Heavybag Media was founded in 2002 by Jackie Peters and Dennis Peters. (We encourage speculation as to whether Dennis and Jackie are married, divorced, brother and sister, randomly two people with the last name, or 2nd cousins. We’ll tell you the whole story when we have our first meeting with you.) Jackie’s background had been purely in digital. Moving from development, through user experience, design, animation and digital video, and ultimately to strategy development. Dennis’ background is in film and video. Dennis has directed and DP’d in just about every format on the planet for just about every distribution channel out there.

The two met when Jackie’s screen design company, Pixelcommotion was retained to create a website for Dennis’ production company, One Black Shoe. Well before YouTube, the two saw the overlap, the potential to distribute content on the internet. And they saw the doors that this would open for so many people. They decided to start a company that specialized in a new style of communication, one that was not broadcast, one-dimensional and assuming.

We’ve built and executed on communication strategies for our clients for over seven years. We’ve done huge web portals, tiny little widgets, coasters, community sites, SMS scavenger hunts, mobile games, print, tv, online video, live events, messaging, fortune cookies, branding, pr, community outreach, flash games, user generated media contests, social networking applications, ARGs and lots more than that.
